I don't know if this makes sense, but when you braid you have to continue to braid along the scalp and not to take the hair with you away from the scalp🩷 I tried to draw a picture if it helps🥰

Yours doing a French braid. Try a Dutch braid. It is easier to make it tighter and get a grip of the hair

Try following the scalp when braiding instead of going straight. And when braiding the back of the scalp try keeping it tight too as you want the braid as close to the scalp as possible.

it's so awkward cause u have to like pull tight, whilst keeping close to the scalp, whilst also low-key pulling towards you and it will make it not sag

because you are pulling the strands you add up and holding the braids up while you do them. you need to go with the shape of the head, like move ur hands down to be in line with/below the hair you are working on

i recommend to pull in all of the hair before four fifths of the head, a bit earlier than the neck so it’s not low

Braid closer to the base of the scalp to really hold the braids there. (Basically tension, KEEP A LITTLE TUG ON IT! Not to much ofc because then it’s painful)
