Later that night, while she had dinner with my mum, she said, “Twenty-two years in South Africa, and I’m never going back. The reason I was able to come here was because I ran away from that lady’s house. I ran away with two other people.” My mum was furious and angry at Bisi. She couldn’t understand how the lady who had taken her in when she was an orphan could be repaid like this. Only for Bisi to explain further: “I nor go school one day since I dey there.
