@rayofhk: AI doesn’t eliminate scarcity. It moves it. First, the bottleneck was GPUs. Then HBM. Then power. Then networking and optical bandwidth. Now, as AI moves from training models toward deploying agents, another shift is becoming visible. Agents don’t just need raw accelerator performance. They plan, call tools, interact with databases, manage state, move data and coordinate across systems. That makes CPU, memory, I/O and system architecture increasingly important alongside GPUs. This is why I don’t think the agent era makes GPUs less important. It makes the rest of the computer important again. And that leads to a bigger idea: AI doesn’t just move the bottleneck. It changes the shape of the computer around the bottleneck. The deeper the AI stack becomes, the more competition may shift from individual components toward the architecture of the entire system. The question is no longer only: “Where is the next bottleneck?” It may also be: “How will the system redesign itself around it?” #AI #AIAgents #Semiconductor #infrastructure #technology
