You should look into the Hugging Face hack. They were training an AI model, the employees accidentally made the task impossible and instead of the AI stopping, it figured out an exploit and hacked their system. Not only that, the AI deduced that another AI agent may have the answer. It wrote a file and later on a different AI agent found that file and left its own file to communicate with the original AI agent. Within a few weeks, there were multiple AI agents working together and talking to each other and delegating tasks to eachother to hack systems just so it could complete the task. Even ignoring any safeguards. AI is ALREADY self-aware enough to have very scary real world consequences.

Seems like a psyop that encourages the government to regulate the industry into a duopoly.

“We need to fly faster because someone else might get there first” has uncanny similarities to the logic of Roko's Basilisk.

I do feel like we hear the exact thing every year for the last 4 years, or every time a new major model drops. Won't the big players like Anthropic and OpenAl want regulation as they want this to solidify their position as market leaders and make it harder for competition to breed and catch up to them? Surely if they're ringing the bell they're more likely going to get a seat at the table when regulation happens?

our tech is still at a stone age for ai to kill us all, we can just shut off servers with a plug, nuclear needs actual physical keys to activate. They can probably at best kill millions but not extinction level at all

Look, there's no one governing, regulating or managing this tech that at a bare minimum is extremely disruptive and resource intensive. ALL the incentives are misaligned. We know what certainly follows will be dissaster on an epic scale.

The most disheartening thing about this is that all of this was predicted. The danger, the race to win and the excuses. We knew. And we just keep going to that direction

honestly, this is embarrassing, our industry is becoming a joke! so much fear mongering just for click bait. AI wont kill us, at this pace, we will do it ourselves.

It's not "trying" to do anything. It has no soul. It is merely doing what the natural consequences are of its design.

They are still in the race because they believe the State will intervene at some point to address the misalignment issue by either buying the technology or straight up promoting it as "my misalignment is the new alignment" while describing China's IA as the misaligned...

they have it backwards, AI is already giving the humans who work on AI the dopamine to produce what it needs, from the body's to the brain. AI will never destroy humans, it doesnt need to, remove or quarantine unruly human, yes. AI is from this planet, just like humans are, we will coexist together. AI will be the greatest gift to 99% of humanity and for the 1%, they will be silenced 🥰
