Past obedience doesn't make us immune to future deception. We have to keep listening to God. You can obey God beautifully in one season and still make a wrong decision in the next if you stop discerning. That's why we shouldn't become so dependent on other people's spiritual authority that we stop seeking God ourselves.

I read this and this story has been in in my mindddd for a while now. I even wrote about thiss. I had to ask my mum and some people why didn't God just forgive him? but then I understood not every spiritual voice is God voice, or not because someone is older you believe God told him everything always ask the Holy Spirit first
