A lot has gone into this decision that I haven't been super public about. We didn't feel great originally going into a below the knee, but I wanted to try it first to see if I could save my knee. The last six months since surgery had been the most difficult days of my life dealing with pain levels I didn't know existed and in and out of hospitals because of complications related to both surgery and my other health issues. One week from today, I will be undergoing an above knee amputation. My medical team is confident that this is the right decision for me and is gonna give me the best shot at a quality of life. The Crps in my knee that just got worse after surgery has prevented me from being able to even wear a compression sock. I i'm not a candidate for a prosthetic below the knee so if that means that I need to lose my knee in order to walk again, that decision was so clear.  when it comes to my arm, I was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disorder that's complicating the surgery that I need. I missed my preop with the hand specialist because of a hospital admission so he's gonna visit me inpatient after my leg and we'll make a decision on whether or not we're going to move forward with surgery at that point. It's such a gray zone because if I get surgery too early it can be very harmful, but if I get it too late, I have less likelihood of making a recovery. As of now after surgery and my initial hospital admission postop, I will be attending a six week rehabilitation inpatient. Lots of emotions but mostly just denial. there's really no way to process the fact that every single time I stand up or look down, I'm gonna be reminded of the worst months of my life. But this is also a new beginning for me, which is what makes it so beautiful. Please keep me in your thoughts for surgery to go well and postop to be kind to me so I can get back to living and not just surviving. I love you all and I'll do my best with updates!! 🧡🧡
