Hi friends, welcome back to another episode of the #growngirldiaries. It’s been a minute, and to be honest, I don’t often share much about my personal story on here. But I think it’s time we change that. Time we get to know each other a little deeper😝 LOL Anyways, the internet can be both beautiful and brutal. It connects us, inspires us, and gives us a peek into other people’s lives. But it also makes it easy to assume. We scroll and guess and fill in the blanks, especially when it comes to women. Especially when it comes to Black women. People are quick to explain away our success. They’ll say it must be family money, or that her partner is funding everything, or that she just got “lucky.” I’ve heard those things. I’ve seen the comments and felt the assumptions. But I’ve never felt the need to explain myself. Not because those comments don’t matter, but because they were never the reason I showed up here. What matters more are the quiet messages from girls like me. Girls from immigrant families, first-gen students, ambitious young women who are trying to figure it all out. The ones who see a piece of themselves in me. The ones who reach out for advice, share their stories, and remind me why this platform exists in the first place. This is for all of us who have ever felt out of place. For the ones who never felt like they belonged. For the ones who walked into rooms and felt like everyone else had some secret map to life that we never got access to. I know that feeling, and I want this space to be a home for it. A space where we talk honestly about what it means to grow, to struggle, to succeed, to try again. So today I’m taking my own advice. I’m walking into this space like I built every part of it. Because I belong here. And so do you. This is the beginning of me sharing more of my story. Not just the polished parts but the real moments too. The lessons, the healing, the things I had to figure out on my own. Beyond career and goals, I want to talk about beauty and self care. I want to talk about fashion and how learning to dress confidently was something I had to grow into. I want to talk about love and friendship and all the messy parts of becoming. So welcome to a new chapter of the #growngirldiaries. One where we get even more honest. One where we grow together, side by side. Let’s begin. #postgrad #postgraddiaries #firstgenerationstudent
