I bought my first property at 23 in Australia 🇦🇺 and today I own 4 properties in total. No inheritance. No rich parents. No handouts. I just became weirdly strict with a few money rules that helped me keep more of what I earned. Here are 5 weird money rules I personally used: 1. If I wanted it, I had to afford it twice 💸 If I wanted something for $300, I wanted another $300 left untouched. It made impulse purchases feel twice as expensive. I also like seeing where my money goes. I personally use @Microsoft Excel to breakdown my spending into categories. It’s harder to ignore your spending when you can actually see it. 2. I hated paying full price 🛍️ Before buying something online, I’d look for a better price, discount or cashback. I personally use @ShopBack Australia for this. If I’m buying something anyway, my rule is to at least check what’s available before paying full price. 3. I calculated purchases in hours, not dollars ⏰ Instead of thinking “It’s only $200,” I’d calculate how many hours I had to work to earn it. If something costs an entire day of work, suddenly it feels VERY different. 4. Everything that automatically charged me had to earn its place 📺 Netflix, Disney+, BINGE, Kayo, Prime Video… individually they don’t feel like much, but together they add up. I personally like hubbl because I can have my different streaming apps together in one place, making it easier to see what I’m actually using. If I’m paying monthly, it needs to earn its place. 5. I stopped paying for the SAME convenience over and over 📦 $8 delivery here. $10 there. Small costs you barely notice. I personally use @OnePass , which gives me benefits like eligible free delivery at places I already shop like Kmart, Target, Bunnings and Officeworks. My rule: find the small expenses you keep paying repeatedly. None of these rules individually bought me a house. But together, they changed how I treated money and helped me buy my first property at 23 and eventually own 4 properties in total. 🇦🇺 I’d rather quietly build wealth than spend money trying to look wealthy. What’s one weird money rule YOU live by? 👇 #sydney #australia #australian #aussie
