true, but if you interact as a belgian with a foreigner they assume you speak french. Historically flanders dominates, culturally the french part does

Wallonia is very nice, but it's landscape, cities and people bear the scars of an economy that fell down when factories closed. In a lot of cities you see thoses decrepit factories, like Charleroi for exemple.

yeah, most tourists go to the north west, which I understand. Sometimes when you pick "belgium" on a website it will automatically be in dutch, which is fine too as I think the south should make more effort to teach and learn flemish/dutch. I wish we were not as divided

the county of flanders doesn't contain antwerp hasn't done so for 900 years just as how the county of hasn't existed for 500 years it's the region of flanders now

waterloo is south, Namur is south, Dinant is south, there's hundreds of beautiful cities and history.. just when you what "les ardennes", it is in Belgium. Dinant is one of the most beautiful place you could seen, Namur is awesome too...

This is amazing! I lived in Brussels for 7 years and at the beginning of this year moved out to tiny town in western Wallonia and it's been such an interesting change of pace. I really compare it to South Wales, post Industrial former mining towns

Come to Charleroi, the city that was once named the ugliest city in the world 😅 — but which has a fascinating history, especially when it comes to its industrial heritage. It’s definitely worth discovering!

glad you enjoyed it but Liège makes me feel very unsafe. The train station is a hub for dodgy people and the walk to the city centre is... Well, let's just say I'll only be found in Liège to change trains going elsewhere

In the South, you should try Namur and the Meuse Valley and the Ardennes with places such as La Roche-en-Ardenne, it’s really lovely
