I know the $5,000 promise may never actually happen. That’s not even my point. My point is that a president used his position and a massive financial promise while campaigning for his party to win an election. You can call it a “dividend,” an “incentive,” or whatever you want. It sure as hell sounds like a bribe to me. And I’m not going to pretend the wording makes the ethical problem disappear.
