I kind of disagree a little with superman. The new movie really works having others there because everyone has a moment to shine sure, but the movie shows you that HE is the ultimate superhero which is emphasised by having the others there

Couldn't agree more - X-Men will also suffer from this, it works much more effectively as a stand alone property than it will in having to carry the baggage of a 20 year old MCU. I don't want to have to question where Mutants have been all this time, juggle some justification for why they're only showing up now, or have to reckon why traditional super heroes like the Avengers are praised or at the least accepted by a wider society that I now have to also believe marginalises and prejudices Mutants - which they have to, otherwise we're cutting the legs out from underneath Magneto and the tension that drives all of the X-Mens best stories. X-Men, Batman, Spider-Man should all go and live in their own worlds and we should be getting clean, well considering and purposeful stories that platform those characters. Even now watching Lanterns I would quite like the show to be self contained - I don't necessarily feel a need to see Hal and Jon interact with Supergirl, Lanterns works brilliantly on its own, but studio obsession with chasing Avengers level box office receipts will force a shared universe that means Lanterns can't remain as it is - it will no doubt be roped into a wider DCU.

I liked James Gun's Superman but I will admit I wasn't a fan of the The Justice Gang inclusion. I felt it took away from Superman.
