One of our favorite things to do in Taiwan is walk into a breakfast shop filled entirely with locals and hope they know something we don’t. 早餐坊 is a small, no-frills neighborhood breakfast shop in Taipei serving many of the classics you’ll find at a traditional Taiwanese breakfast place. We started with milk tea and two dan bing (蛋餅)—thin, chewy Taiwanese egg crepes rolled with savory fillings. Ours came with ham and bacon, plus chopped green onion cooked into the crepe. Satoshi especially loved these. I ordered a simple egg toast sandwich made with lightly toasted white bread, fried egg, sliced cucumber and pepper. The crusts had been neatly removed, and although there was nothing elaborate about it, it was warm, comforting and exactly the kind of breakfast I enjoy. This isn’t a trendy café or a famous tourist destination.
