@mothershipsg: Edit: The symbol for those living beyond 2km of the school in the infographic should >2km instead of ≥2km The Ministry of Education (MOE) announced on Sep. 10 that it will introduce a new Two-Track Scheme in Phase 2C of the P1 registration process for schools in neighbourhoods with less public housing. For now, this scheme will apply to 12 schools located in neighbourhoods where public housing makes up less than 40% of the homes within a 2km radius of the school. The scheme thus seeks to preserve access for children living near the school, while opening the school to a more diverse socio-economic mix of families beyond those living in their immediate neighbourhood, MOE said. The list will be updated periodically based on changes to the surrounding housing mix, as well as MOE’s experience with the scheme’s implementation. This new scheme will apply to children going to Primary 1 in 2028. Balloting for the phase will be conducted when the number of applicants exceeds vacancies in a track. #mothershipnews
