We have had DVC for almost 30 years. It is the best investment to have ever done. I have used DVC with my kids throughout those years, of course going to the park, but also exchanging for London. Paris, and other international destinations. Of course, all the hotels for the exchange are five star. We’ve also gone to Disney Paris with the DVC Membership. And we have gone to New York at that time the exchange was with the Waldorf Astoria. Finally, we have used it three times for cruises on the Disney ship. Also, the facility that you can bank point and borrow point from year to year. Give you so much flexibility. My two daughters which are in their late 20s have each already bought their Dvc packages.

For the price of DVC you can BUY a house in my neighborhood for less than 500k - 3 miles from property. That’ll make you a fla resident for AP pricing. That’s what we did.

Depends on how many times you plan on going and how long you’re going to stay. We are 1000 miles away so we do an eight day trip for Easter in a villa and then we do an eight day trip for Christmas in a villa and a four day for Labor Day in a studio. We have 400 points between Bay Lake and Saratoga Springs. Best investments we ever made.

I’ve been a DVC member since 2008 and my parents are DVC founding members. We have multiple contracts all over including the grand Californian and Aulani Both purchased directly from Disney and resale. We 100 percent find it worth it. There are special events, exclusive merchandise, discounts on special tickets, dining shopping that are very similar to an annual passholders discount. I have contracts at Rivera and the Poly. Rivera is one of my favorite resorts and I love the cabins at fort wildness. My first contact was a wedding gift from my parents and it was animal kingdom lounge with enough points to stay club level for 2 weeks a year. It’s really all about what important to you. As an adult, I love riviera. They have great dining. You can get to Studios and Epcot on the Skyliner. I enjoy the poly during holiday parties because it’s nice to be on the monorail. Dining at both is great. I love the cabins over at Fort wilderness for the seclusion. And space. Animal Kingdom Lodge purely for the vibes. My parents are divorced, and my mom kept their grand Floridian and old Key West contracts in the divorce and my dad bought in Bay Lake after they got divorced. And that’s truly their personalities in resort form.

We just bought our 1st DVC from resale. 200 pts Polynesian at $155. We like to stay on property and have 3 year old granddaughter. Nearly unaffordable to stay at Poly paying rake rate. Thought about Riviera but didnt want to be restricted. We want to go to Aulani in Hawaii too. DVC holds it value. So when we are done with Disney, we can get most our money back when we sell.

We have wanted to do it for 25 years. We wound up buying a Westgate timeshare because it was cheaper and have regretted it ever since. Recently we started talking about it because we are all annual pass holders from out of state. We were torn between direct and resale but we ultimately went with direct Polynesian. We looked at Riveria and it was beautiful but it didn’t feel Disney to me. So my thought process has been buying Poly direct to get the perks of a direct contract and eventually buying a resale contract for another property to add on to our points. We are in the process at staying at all the resorts to figure out which ones I like and don’t like. Some properties have been on my bucket list for years and I have been disappointed and others have never been a second thought for me and have turned into our favorites. I didn’t get it at first everyone said buy where you want to stay and it is SO true. We put our 3 adult children on the contract with us so all 4 households are eligible for the benefits that come with the contract. We have all benefited from being able to buy the cheaper annual passes and the freedom to stay at any resort. We live the member lounges at the parks on super hot or rainy days. We have been trying to do more of the member perk events and have found we are going more frequently. It works better for us to do shorter more frequent trips. I haven’t stayed at the Rivera yet because of the amount of points. I just feel that I get more at other resorts for less points. As far as cruises I was told by many people it’s not worth using your points. You are better off waiting till a discount is offered to book a cruise and possibly renting out your points and using that money to pay for the cruise.

Completely worth it. We purchased two contracts in one year. We have had the best time so far. Get Poly resale. It isn’t worth it to use points for a cruise.

If you’ve got it, already plan to go annually and stay deluxe, and it makes you happy. Then yes, do it. People that don’t love Disney or don’t have the $ love to hate and say no. Also, Poly all day. Way better resale value.

Look at the maintainance costs for each resort. That increases yearly and will be your rolling cost each year so consider that when choosing. As others have mentioned if you ever resell your direct contract the newer resorts will be restricted to that resort once it becomes resell. Poly at least still has access to the original set even after resell.

The thing that makes Dvc an amazing product is that every family is different. Every person is different. You need to watch as many videos as you can from Dvc Pfann. And really buy where you want to stay. For us we bought Riviera direct in 2020. We were considering a resale monorail resort. And the last time we stayed, we stayed at Polly. My daughter wanted to ride the Skyliner and get off and smell Riviera because she loves it so much at that moment we change our mind we’re gonna buy resale at Riviera in addition to our direct Riviera because for the price point we have absolutely no problem staying at Rivera with the resale points but we have our direct stay wherever. Our daughter is 13 and when we purchased it, we were thinking all the way in long-term of the years that she’ll be at college and we’ll just go in the winter time and Paul’s a little too crazy with kids, but Riviere is just the right speed for us. Lots to think about good luck.

I wouldn’t buy Riviera resale. It has restrictions that would allow you to only stay at Riviera. If you’re buying direct, buy where you want to stay. We looked into DVC for a decade before pulling the trigger, and I wish we had done it sooner! Most perks come when you buy 150 points or more direct from Disney. Discounts on dining, merch, and annual passes are my favorite perks.

If you go once a year for a week, 100 resale points is perfect. Each year you’re allowed to purchase an additional 24 points to complete your vacation if needed. If you go twice a year, buy 150 points direct. Direct gets you a discount on the sorcerer pass. It saves 500 per person roughly and you break even if you go twice a year but the extras put you over the top. 20 percent discounts on merchandise and being able to use points for a cruise start to make it more than worth it. If you go 3 times a year, the amount of money you save on sorcerer pass vs park tickets more than makes up for the extra cost of direct Dvc. Poly is the smarter long term investment and has a higher resale value if you decide to sell. Riviera is among the worst in resale value. Simply because resale riviera can only use their points at riviera. I recommend buying 50 point contracts and pay cash for them. Don’t finance. 50 point contracts are worth tons more on the resale market so you’ll recoup much of your investment.
