To be fair, where was this “supposed” true King of Gondor when Boromir watched as his brothers in arms fell to the orcish hordes, the first to fight and first to die to protect the good races of Middle-Earth? Hiding in forests? Talking with Elves? Where is the truth in such an absent King?

You understand Boromir isn't just a mean soldier with lust for Power when they get out from the mines and he asks Aragorn to give the hobbits more time to mourn for Gandalf. He was the tough one before that, and suddenly it's the other way, because he knows warm way too well, he knows how much losing someone can destroy you
