@buildtomade: My son clogged our toilet, and thankfully the easiest fix worked. The water was still slowly draining, but my plunger wouldn't clear it right away. So before calling a plumber I tried dish soap + hot tap water, let it sit, then went back in with the plunger. That was enough to get everything moving again. If that hadn't worked, my next step would've been a toilet auger before making the plumber call. Another $150-ish stays in the house…or apparently goes toward my wife's Italy trip next year.
