@essentialcollegecoaches: Looking for high school awards that can strengthen a college application? Students don't have to wait around hoping someone nominates them for an award. There are legitimate recognitions they can intentionally work toward throughout high school, including the Congressional Award: https://www.congressionalaward.org/Duke of Edinburgh's International Award: https://usaward.org/Seal of Biliteracy: https://sealofbiliteracy.org/ The key is to start early. The Congressional Award, for example, recognizes sustained achievement in service, personal development, physical fitness, and exploration. The Seal of Biliteracy can formally recognize proficiency in multiple languages. And programs like the Duke o Edinburgh's Award can document long-term growth across service, skills, physical activity, and challenge. But here's the college admissions strategy I want families to understand: Don't chase random awards just to fill the Common App Honors section. Look for meaningful credentials that naturally connect to a student's existing interests, skills, service and accomplishments. Freshmen and sophomores: this is the time to investigate what you could realistically work toward over the next several years. #CollegeAdmissions #CollegeApplication #CommonApp #CommonAppHonors
