@beyond.naija: Do you know the Nigerian woman who helped force a king from his throne? 🇳🇬 Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti was a fearless activist, women’s rights leader, and the mother of Fela Kuti. In 1946, she led thousands of women in Abeokuta against unfair taxation and the abuse of market women. Their resistance lasted for years, eventually forcing the Alake to abdicate in 1949 and helping abolish the tax. But her story didn’t end there. Decades later, at 76, she was thrown from a second-floor window during the military raid on Fela’s Kalakuta Republic. She died from her injuries in 1978. She fought for women’s freedom and paid the ultimate price for standing up to power. #BeyondNaija #FunmilayoRansomeKuti #NigerianHistory #NigeriaHistory #AfricanHistory #NigerianWomen #WomenInHistory #FelaKuti #Abeokuta #YorubaHistory #NaijaHistory

So sad that when you ask children even adults that “who is Funmilayo Kuti?” They’ll tell you she’s the first woman to drive a car, so sad.
the attire used in the picture is not of yoruba or of Egba extraction, our proudly Yoruba doesn't tie double
wrappers. 2 way wrappers is for Niger/Delta and lbo women!
Yoruba is not a tribe or language, it's Black Civilization, Tradition and Culture!
