I work at a dental office and sometimes I don’t understand why some patients don’t want to get their work done it’s for their own good and prices are insane at times.

Oh. I was told SRP typically requires multiple visits for patient safety because when they numb you, you cannot feel your tongue, cheek, and lip. If you eat something, you might bite and injure yourself. That’s why they are not allowed to do SRP in 1 appointment. Sounds like sumn they made up then 🤣

Dental needs to be grouped with medical and stop with the stupid 2000$ maximum I’ve seen. 2000$ barely covers anything anymore

We got audited by one of those insurance companies just three months after opening our dental practice. We thought that was super weird since we were starting from scratch and barely had any patients yet. Then, during the Zoom interview, the doc from insurance company asks, "Why are you doing SRP two days in a row instead of waiting a week?" I was like, does it really matter? Since our schedule was totally wide open and most of our patients were just friends or referrals, they wanted to get everything done quickly. We couldn't do all four quads in one day due to your policy, so we just had them come back the next day. lol They said okay and dropped it, but my husband and I were like, seriously?? 😂

As someone who’s had it done, you don’t wanna be in the chair that long. No disrespect at all to you or your team. It’s not easy on everyone’s jaw afterwards

Gum disease, shouldn’t be so prevalent. I think it’s due to poor dental/health literacy. I have learned how to take care of my dental health through TikTok. We need more dentist to be teachers. Often dentist just want to get patients in and out.

My insurance wouldn’t pay so I had it do all at once without numbing. I don’t recommend that. The inside of my mouth tasted awful for about a week and a half BUT now that it’s healed I would still do it again. It’s worth it.

Only part I gotta disagree with is some SRP’s are too hard on my hands and back to do all in a day. Depends on the case though. Generalized deep tenacious with calc rings around every tooth is gonna need to be split up more than something like a localized, pmt retreat, or the types you can get away with using gingicaine on

Insurances like Liberty, UHC and most of Delta dental only allows 2 quad per visit.

I just had this done right before my insurance was active. So, I paid out of pocket and I was actually able to get all 4 completed that day.. ended up saving me a bit of money.

Yea the dentist told me I need to do the scaling and have osseous done and perhaps some bone grafting reality depending on the cost the only thing i might get done is the scaling and root stuff

i think i have gum disease. i’ve been trying to go to the dentist for almost 3 years because i want to get my wisdom teeth removed but i’ve been having problems with my insurance

I did it today they said I could do the whole mouth at once if I didn’t get numbing injections so that’s what I did and my insurance covered it
