It depends upon the topic. See, I've found that even people who actually think they are being empathetic the seem to be almost violently aggressive about it. I've also found that the conservative thinkers demand agreement rather than allowing room for the opinions of others.

The brains work differently. A bunch of research has gone into measuring brain waves while people watch political content. The last one claimed they could answer correctly 87 percent of the time which party they liked, just by looking at what part of the brain is activated.
