@meghanjoytoday: If you are so excited for your kids to go back to school, fine. I personally, can’t relate (and do still like some alone time from time to time) but truly enjoy being with my kids. But for me, the real issue is celebrating getting them out of the house right IN FRONT OF THEM. I find it to be so rude. And no one is questioning it or asking kids how that makes them feel that a room full of adults is applauding the fact that all the kids are about to leave and how happy they all are about it. Just odd behavior to me and I don’t know why we so widely accept it. I think it’s mean. And I can’t stand when my kids are in places where they hear it. 14th year of homeschooling here and BLESSED to be with my kids every dang day.

Single mom here🙋🏻‍♀️and entrepreneur, business owner, only income for my home! Mother to a second grade girl who has ADHD and emotional disregulation. I love our time in the summer, love the random adventures, but truly am fighting for my life at times. From the lack of schedule, to finding time to work, and enjoy motherhood at the same time. It may seem rude, but it’s also an accomplishment to celebrate school’s arrival. I celebrated my kid going back, because truly it was my business’s saving grace that I get more work time now that she is in school. Also my saving grace that we have a better routine, better relationship and communication because of that, and exciting new friendships and experiences for her! It isn’t about celebrating my kid being away, but about working hard in every aspect of life and now approaching a new milestone where both me and my kid can be the best version of ourselves. I think it’s important to know that each of our own experiences are not universal and whatever your family looks like, may not be the same for everyone, but it’s not always a negative 🫶🏼

👏👏👏 I’m excited for them, I am sad. They have mixed emotions and that’s NORMAL. Holding space for all the emotions for the kids is important.

Everyone’s experience is different, different support at home.

Yes we don’t have enough time with our little. My youngest child has been homeschooled for the last six years. I am blessed to be a stay at home mom for the last two years.

fully agree & yes it IS that deep! tbh I'm exhausted by the time school goes back, but I make sure my kids know how much I value spending time with them. I'd be very sad if someone I loved told me they were looking forward to seeing less of me - kids are no different!
