My dear it’s good to talk about these things for educational purposes but traditions are not rigid. Culture and Traditions are people’s way of life. Many times people come together to agree on things they want to be identified as. Things are changing and many of these traditions need amendments and adjustments. Remember in the past that Igbo tradition doesn’t let you keep your twins or triplets. They kill them cos they believe it’s abomination to have more than one child at a time and it doesn’t end there. They go ahead to throw out everything in their parents possession in the name of cleansing for them to start a cleaner life over again. Some of the things you mentioned especially the ones that discriminate women needs amendment. If men want chop gizzard, make dem chop. But you see the rest?? I don’t agree with traditions that treat me less as a woman. If a woman does something huge like men, she should be given a chieftaincy title hence she can nara aka to like chiefs, if the father is late and not available during marriage ceremony, I strongly support the mother taking charge first before any other person.
