They’re setting it up to be a scapegoat for criminal activity and/or for some protection program like what there is for the internet. No way they haven’t set up protections for themselves. People aren’t happy with ai, so they are pivoting to make money off of protective measures since our government isn’t doing 💩.

I use the best available frontier models as a software engineer for professional work. I can tell you that 99% of the population has no idea about how quickly these models are improving and even what they are capable of doing RIGHT NOW. This isn’t marketing, ask any professional software engineer working in big tech.

I genuinely disagree with this take. Public use AI has evolved incredibly fast. Last year I couldn’t even use it to make a simple economics graph and now chat GPT can create a code file in which it displays complex economic graphs. Seems small but this is just what is released to the public definitely way more behind the scenes
