you can get orange zest in a shaker. I've seen it at a meijer and Walmart. it's called orange peel.

With mother means it has the film on top, which means if you were to put wine or something with that film, it would turn that wine into more vinegar think of a reverse yeast because what mother does is turn alcohol into water
