@safesweep.chimney: Its been while since we had a crispy and cruchy one to share with you all ๐ ๐ Below the very crispy and crunchy soot deposits removed from one of todays sweeps of an ecosy hampton stove ๐ฅ. I know it very satisfying to see and hear it getting vaccumed up ๐ but theres an important message hiding in this shiny soot too. So indulge me if you will ๐ค What we see here is a build up of flammable creosote that is a by product of burning fuel with a moisture content of over 20% resulting in incomplete combustion ๐ฅ and reduced flue gas temperatures ๐ก which creates this dangerous substance to develop in your chimney. In order to avoid this dangerous build up and reduce your risk of chimney fires ๐ฅ and expensive repairs and chemical treatments then please follow the top tips below โ 1. By a moisture meter ๐ฆ and test your fuel before burning it ๐ฅ if it is 20% or less the burn away anything above 20% then let it season for longer 2. Ensure your wood storage solution is effective... wood off the floor, sufficient air flow ( open on 3 sides) and ensure it has a water proof roof ๐ง 3. Ensure you know how to use the air controls on your appliance...refer to manufacturers instruction if you are unsure ๐๐ 4. Buy a stove pipe thermometer ๐ก and Ensure your stove is operating at the optimal burning temperature ๐ฅ 5.
