@wheretonexttt__: this was one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the world 😳 📍comuna 13, medellin colombia 🇨🇴 one of the best things to do in Medellin is to visit this neighborhood and learn about its history! now, its filled with art, color, music and graffiti, but it wasn’t always like that! during Medellins most violent years, Comuna 13 was heavily affected by cartel violence and later became caught between guerrilla groups, paramilitary groups, gangs and military operations BUT over the past two decades, the community has completely transformed through art, music, social projects and locally led tourism they built a cable car and escalators making it easier to access for tourism many of the murals & art here tell real stories about the neighborhood’s history, the people who lived through it and the resilience of the community today, the streets are filled with music, insanely talented breakdancers, performers, shopping and insanely beautiful views it’s super cool to see but also felt inspiring and powerful how much this place has transformed! 🇨🇴 #solotravel #comuna13 #medellin #medellincolombia #backpacker
