@kporter.stuff: Why Wet Threads Change Your Torque Spec, K-Factor Explained Your torque wrench can be perfectly calibrated and still overload the bolt. 🙌🏼⚙️ #Fasteners #TorqueSpec #MechanicalEngineering #DFM #ManufacturingEngineer
Bolting steps:
1. Tighten until soft
2. Back off 1/2 turn
3. Call apprentice to "finish torqueing"
4. Go to lunch quickly.

What about washers or lock nut vs nylon locking nut? Do they affect the torque specs?

Not true. Some things (head bolts) require to be oiled before installation for torque

Please note, she is referring to generic torque tables. If you are working on a specific project and the naval tells you to use threadlocker, and to torque to whatever number, follow the manufacturer. She is only referring to the torque and stretch chart of a bolt with no reference as to what you are using it for. Often used in engineering, non-factory style repais, etc. Follow the manufacturer of the product if you are working on an existing product. 😁🥰

Can confirm. Broke a bolt off in the head of an engine. Had to take everything apart again and extract the broken bolt. (Doing the intake on a ford explorer)

The problem is that torque specs are listed in imperial and metric but not ugga-duggas. What's the lb-ft equivalent of 12 ugga-duggas? Nobody knows but them bolts ain't loosened up at all. 😁
