Why are we stuck on React or any JS framework? You have some of the most well maintained, underutilized web frameworks like Phoenix, Spring Web, Django, Laravel, etc. HTML is a very mature and widely supported standard that can give you some great interactive interfaces out of the box. If you need more, SSE, websockets and other tools are in reach. Not every app needs the state management and interactivity of React. You not building Facebook. The server manages the logic and state.

This is an interesting take because I think that LLMs are great at making a frontend, but absolutely horrific at any sense of taste or UX understanding. Whereas on the backend, most things are more deterministic . That said, LLMs will always be best paired with an already experienced developer.

This has how it has been for awhile. There has been a plethora of component and css libraries to handle ui. Frontend isn’t just ui/ux. There is a lot of hidden complexity. It is just as complex and interesting as backend. I wish people would actually dive deeper

ai is actually really bad at frontend. usable frontend that is and I am a backend engineer. it builds things that looks okay until you use it. it's great for prototyping frontend until somebody actually implements a FE.

when I have claude design it for me the fe it works very well, but after that with the be, i try to keep a pretty good eye on it. it does work pretty good for the be as well, but i see more hallucinations/confident errors there. so just monitor it basically and create your prompts in a very particular and direct way everytime to avoid dummy decisions 😂

AI can get you 80% of the way there. The problem is the 20% is all the niche, obscure, and security stuff where developers spend almost all their time. only junior devs were actually writing code.

if your frontend holds just components yes. Insert animations & branching logic based on BE response. It gets harder to vibe code. If your BE is complicated FE almost linearly follows that level of complexity

In my experience the thing these models are bad at is building UI that feels good to use. Still takes a ton of trial and error. They can single shot backends like nobody’s business. I’ve got a growing list of linux kernel patches I’ve built with fable, but I’m still making UI by hand

I work for a large firm. No When you get to A/B testing and heatmaps and rules and regulations and ALL SORTS OF STUFF. Then no. AI makes it easier but you need somebody educated to do the rest of the work.
