@hustlersnthehood: Tracy Bernard Smith was walking to his family's house in Lauderhill in the rain on August 29 when he saw smoke coming from a home two doors down. He knew what it was. He walked over and there was Rose Nelson, 95, standing at the window. She could not open it. She has carpal tunnel and her hands do not have the strength. Lightning had hit the AC wall unit and the inside of the house was going up behind her. "I lifted the window and she was standing right there. She was black like soot black. Tar coming out of her nose. We lifted her like this and carried her out." Ms. Rose has been at the Jackson Memorial burn unit since. Her throat and tongue were burned from breathing the soot. Her daughter Sandra has been at her side and says she still wakes up at night yelling fire, her name, her address, and get out of the house. The house she has lived in for decades was declared unlivable. She had dropped the insurance because she could not afford it on a fixed income. All she keeps asking is if the house is bad and where she is going to go. "Momma, you're gonna come with me. We are gonna work on getting the house back together."
