@marioaesparzajr: We were on our way to a witchcraft store in Mexico when we encountered a couple walking through the neighborhood. As we began talking with them, we learned that they were devotees of Santa Muerte. I began preaching the gospel to them and sharing the love of Jesus. At first, they did not want to receive Christ—but they allowed us to pray. What happened next changed the entire atmosphere. As we prayed, the woman fell to the ground and began manifesting, and we witnessed what we believe was a powerful deliverance. Afterward, some of the women on our team continued ministering to her and praying with her, and you could visibly see the difference in her. But it didn’t stop there. People in the neighborhood began watching what was happening. A man who was selling witchcraft items at the nearby store came outside. With tears in his eyes, he heard the gospel—and gave his life to Jesus. Others who witnessed what happened also responded to the gospel. It reminded me of what we see throughout the book of Acts: God confirming the message being preached, and people becoming open to the gospel as they witnessed His power. “And they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.” — Acts 14:3 We didn’t go to Mexico simply to expose darkness. We went to proclaim the One who has overcome it. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life.” — John 11:25 Santa Muerte glorifies death. Jesus Christ defeated death.
