@adriannaschuh: Treating corrective eyewear as fashion is ableist. Because it minimizes and trivializes something we need to function. #ableism #glasses
Fashion can be functional tho so yes glasses can be fashion

Why is something minimized and trivialized just because it’s considered “fashion”?

Without the fashion aspect, we would be stuck with base model, black-rimmed glasses with no thinning on the lenses like they used to give people in the military. You wouldn't even have the blue ones you have now. Things can look good and fashionable AND be medical equipment. And I say this as someone who wears corrective lenses.

Oh dear how can someone hurt me today. If someone buys something with their own money…don’t worry about it

I don’t have a choice about needing to wear glasses for the rest of my life I do have a choice on what style of glasses I wear I do have a choice on what type of mobility device I use just because something is necessary in order to have independence and autonomy doesn’t mean you don’t choose things that bring you joy for example the color of your glasses that you’re wearing

unless they are pretending they cant see, stealing your glasses, or going to a shop and taking every single frame available, let people be.

I get what you’re saying but at the same time I’m happy I get to choose what my glasses look like, I can make my glasses as pretty as I want, and I’d rather live in a world where people see glasses as fashionable then a For-eyed freak .
