When I was 12 I got hit by a moped in Thailand while crossing a street. The man was driving one handed with a baby in his other hand. The baby must have been less than 6 months old with no helmet. The moped fell and the baby was hurt. I broke my leg. He was furious at me and threatening to sue my parents. I told him he was driving with a baby with no safety measure. I’m pretty sure it’s illegal. The man drove off with the baby and left me there.

That's not even legal where I live. 5yo is minimum with a helmet. But even then. My 5yo is in a rear facing car seat in my car.

Just for comparison, I’m 53-year-old female from the US. I can’t remember how old I was, but it was before going to school, when I was sitting in the backseat playing with the door handle. We turned the curve and I fell out. My mom stopped the car, yelled at me “get your ass in the car!” I quickly got back in andshe just continued to drive. She did not ask me if I was OK or check me in any way to see if I hit my freaking head or anything else. I was just glad that I didn’t get in trouble. The same woman will go nuts. If my nieces get a scratch and give them all the cute bandages and snacks that they want. I’m telling you different generations are treated different everywhere.
