We dont actually know what causes pedophilia or child abuse. The best guess we have is that its caused by biological and environmental factors. Someone might have a biological predisposition to pedophilia and their abuse trauma might lead them to believe adult-child relationships are normal. The trauma might very well factor into their decision to abuse the child. Trauma especially early childhood trauma is not pretty, it can make someone normalize abnormal behaviors, it might make someone lose their capacity for empathy, it might disturb someone for the rest of their life. I dont like how the internet likes to say that mental illness doesnt cause abnormal behavior to spare the feelings of people with those illnesses bc it wouldnt be an illness if it didn’t cause abnormal or destructive behaviors. Getting molested wont make you into a chomo. But having sexual trauma is undoubtedly a factor in the web of reasons some people become chomos.

Thank you. I am a survivor of CSA and then went through fertility treatments for several years. I spent years thinking I was not getting pregnant because I would turn into a child abuser. I felt so guilty, ashamed, and unworthy. Years of inadequate therapy but you always hit the nail on the head. I have benefited from your videos. Never stop. ❤️

It astonishes me that you even need to explain this. All trauma alters brain chemistry. How a person chooses to deal with that trauma will ultimately make them who they are as a person later in life. The majority of abuse survivors would never go on to abuse others. That doesn’t mean the small amount that do become abusers haven’t been abused themselves.

I think they may also abuse or go totally the opposite way. Being way overprotective and always watching with their own children/ or any child

My grandpa SA‘d his 5 (maybe even the 6th) children and only one (one too much of course) of his kids SA‘d their kid. The others developed drug and alcohol addiction. Two (also the one abuser) got psychotic and therefore dangerous to even just talk to. My dad and only one of his siblings were the only of these siblings who never abused any of us in any way. They sure had mental issues themselves through it and gave us hard times from being alcoholics and through divorce but they were always as protective over us as much as they were able to.

Not csa but my mother was emotionally abusive. I as a mother am profoundly determined to do better by my daughter and im not the only one in my situation who feels this way. You are right. It is a choice. ✨

There’s good data out there about this. I’ve taught nationally on these issues for years myself. And I’ve investigated thousands of cases of CSA in my career.

It also numerically doesn’t add up. If 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 people experience csa and all of them go on to abuse others who then also go on to be abusers, you have an exponential growth problem to the point where every person born would be an abuser, which 1) doesn’t make sense on a very obvious level and 2) would make everyone an abuser, thereby negating the first statistic

That person is likely an abuser, sexual or otherwise, only a cruel and abusive person would be so insistent on demonizing victims. They are genuinely one of the most disgusting people I’ve ever seen online and that is saying something.

you can't convince me their mindset isn't some type of propaganda to exile victims and punish them for coming forward.
if people actually believe this, it could mean less job prospects or losing their community for people who have been SA'd which would only make it harder to speak up.
same as accusing everyone who disagrees with anything of being a pdf. if they throw it around enough, no one will bat an eye anymore.
thank you for advocating for victims!
