we see other lapises and they all look the same, she isnt a perfect cut. shes extremely powerful because of the insane amount of hatred she has in her heart (SO strong to the point she could resist BLUE DIAMONDS power because she felt worse than her😭😭), because shes an era 1 gem and because steven healed her cracked gem and healed gems get much more resistant

This fandom underplays lapis's actions way too much, malachite was so toxic because both of them wanted to stay fused. Lapis wanted to hurt jasper and jasper wanted to keep on feeling powerful, if only jasper wanted to stay fused and lapis didn't then malachite would've simply unfused like opal in her introduction episode

Lapises are also designed to destroy and form the ENTIRE SURFACE of planets but her gem being cracked and her being able to steal the ocean when amethyst almost DIED bc her gem was cracked is lowkey crazy

She’s not a perfect cut gem BUT she is a Era-1 gem and it was stated that Era-1 gems are stronger than Era-2 gems because Era-1 gems were made when resources weren’t so scarce making Era-1 gems stronger overall hence why lapis was able to do such feats even when her gem was cracked

Lapis were intended to be EXTREMELY powerful to terraform with their water abilities. That's why she was able to hold her back for so long all era 1 lapis lazulis could probably do that

No she’s simply stronger, other than being a gem designed for terraforming and having literal elemental powers on her side against a simple quartz soldier (even if perfect cut), Lapis is an era 1 gem that we know used to be better than era 2 gems, and Jasper was made in the Beta kindergarten, which had terrible resources and a poor structure
