Why does my glue come out from the cuticle side ?

Troubleshooting question. When I go to apply the tips on myself I tend to get bubbles or areas that haven't been touched by gel or near the cuticle area the tip is lifted off my nail. I also tend to get a gap between the free edge and the tip? Is this a pressure issue, or are my nail beds shaped funny?

I add a thin layer of glue and cure completely, and then add glue to the tip as well

A tip I found was to use a shorter tip on my pinky and thumb, if I’m using short tips I’ll put an extra short on my pinky and thumb. I find this helps with my retention and looks a bit more cohesive on my hands.
