@millypickles: 2X speed it ⚠️ TW: This video discusses amputation, disability fetish and medical trauma As a new amputee, your life completely changes. Your going through so much, have a lot of emotions and then very shortly after, you have to deal with all of this too. Sadly I’ve also received a lot of DMs from people telling me about others messaging them pretending they’re amputees, asking for a photo of their leg. It’s literally a scam and then they’ve told me that they did send a photo of their leg. The amputee community is so strong, people do it in good will to help others but they’re just being exploited. It’s a JOKE. My sister messaged me after watching the documentary and said “omg he follows you”, I instantly felt violated at the fact he was even looking at me. I’ve since blocked him but that just shows, if I feel that way, imagine how amputees who were operated on by him must feel… that’s who my heart goes out to ❤️ It also makes me question, how many people have I met IRL have amputee fetishes? I experience them online but what about IRL? I actually do think I’ve come across one person IRL who did. It was a really weird situation and luckily, my friend clocked it and grabbed my prosthetic leg off this guy. It’s flipping WEIRD. That’s also the partly why I’ve never shared my leg online. I refuse to be someone else’s kink. I’ve even found pictures from my Instagram uploaded on disabled lovers websites before. It’s TAPPED and the amount of people I block is a joke. If you could reshare this video to your story or repost it, I’d really appreciate that. I think it’s important people are aware of what happens. Hopefully news articles pick this up and we can try build momentum for amputees operated on by Neil Hopper so they can get the answers or/and compensation they deserve.

Do you see any parallels with gender-affirming care? It’s also a dysmorphia, no? I don’t understand it myself, but as an amputee if I say ‘Well that’s a weird fetish’. Or ‘Don’t cut off healthy parts’ that kind of makes me a gatekeeper for what people need to decide for themselves, right? Which fetishes get called out and which don’t? Does that risk having gender-affirming care labelled a fetish as well?

I completely agree with you, painting the narrative that we all have to struggle or grieve is also really dismissive of those of us who had elective amputations for legitimate medical reasons and genuinely saw our lives and/or mobility improve as a result
