legit just had to replace my radiator 2 days ago. there was cracks on the sides and it was leaking. $480 later and new radiator, flush and new coolant added. caught it just in time too

I’ve seen that in an emergency, you *can* put water in the coolant tank; like to get it to a shop; but only as a last resort. If it’s not hot outside it’ll stop the engine from overheating immediately

So this is why my EF ford falcon died, it had a problem with the radiator and I had to top it up with water. hahaha. guess I should have used coolant

When I was 19 and had my first car (1994 Ford Escort LX), it was overheating as I was pulling up to my house. I had coolant in the car and absent-mindedly just popped the cap. That 2-stage safety cap saved me my eyesight and lengthy hospital stay. The coolant sprayed out the sides, some of it splashing up into my pants. I ripped them off so fast and was lucky to be wearing looser fitting clothes, too. I wound up with a maybe 6" diameter burn on my thigh which took weeks of constant dressing changes and tedious bathing routines to heal. I was just ignorant at the time but I have since looked into every safety precaution given for any machinery I use. If it going poorly could harm you, please make sure you know how to minimize risk.

I needed this thank you, i have a coolant leak problem i have been replacing the coolant every week when it drains i am yet to replace the radiator….i hope there isn’t any catastrophic failure or damage… i haven’t seen any overheating, steam or any suspicious smells….. also I’m not so sure if the thermostat is operating well not sure how to check

I had a weird one. Was loosing coolant but had no leaks, oil was not milky and car wasn’t smoking at all either. Turned on the brand new radiator cap was slowly leaking and evaporating coolant out. I put the old broken one back on and I haven’t lost a drop yet ! 🫡
