The original point of a QTE was to complete a series of button presses to complete the event. In the original Raimi Spider-Man tie-in games you ran the risk of getting hurt/dieing during the QTE for not pressing them in the right sequence of fast enough. Without the need for button presses it just becomes a glorified cutscene.
