@cynthia.academy: Most people complain that getting a mortgage is a SCAM. They said they have paid their mortgages continuously every month for more than 5 years, yet their principal has not reduced significantly. This is because nobody taught them how mortgage interests and principal works. This is something not taught in school despite mortgage being the largest debt in most people’s lifetime. Only 10 percent of people in the UK know what I have shared in this mortgage guide. Use this information and fight the mortgage system so that you don’t get “scammed”. Mortgage is only a scam for those who have this knowledge. In this mortgage guide, I will teach you simple maths about the interest mechanics, how the balance paid and outstanding loan are calculated, and ultimately how to pay off your mortgage earlier. Don’t forget to pass this document down to your children and your children’s children. I am rooting for you! So when you pay the extra £200 a month, how do you know it is being taken from principal or your interest? do you need to specify where the extra £200 is going or it automatically goes to interest or principal? I need more clarity.
Thanks

Don't do this if you are renting the house out. You can deduct your interest payment from your tax, if anything start overpaying after the fixed period then your interest payment must have really reduced...

A reduction from £1,029.79 to £946.84 in 5 years cannot be called SIGNIFICANT.....

This is simple...the bulk of your payment goes towards the interest on the mortgage and not the mortgage itself

this is informative, I took pen and started calculations alongside, now I understand how it works, we just decided putting additional 200 / month on top of monthly repayment, i believe it goes a long way. Thank you 🙏, God bless you

Why is 365 (balance*rate/365) fixed in monthly interest calculation?

I don’t see mortgage as an investment if I’m going to be living in it. It only becomes an investment when the house is paid off

My cousin got a loan to buy his house as the interest on the loan is less than getting a mortgage.

What difference does it make really? Have you also calculated the 200 extra for 22years and 8months and see what it gives?
