The hardware is not really the expensive part. GPT Realtime is currently $32/M audio input tokens and $64/M output, roughly 2 cents per minute for your voice + 8 cents per minute for the AI speaking. For a demo this is great. For something replacing Alexa and running every day, the API cost is the part I'd worry about.
