Self-modifying agents make execution authorization more important, not less. If the agent can rewrite its code, tool registry, or config, then identity and runtime monitoring alone are not enough. The execution boundary still has to independently answer: Was this exact action, with this exact payload, authorized to execute right now? The agent can change. The authorization boundary cannot.
