Fun fact, all land gastropods, snails and slugs, are hermaphroditic. They are all the same sex. When they mate, they fertilize each other's eggs.

I heard from an indigenous friend from the Comox Valley that someone once cut their finger almost off, then found a slug and cut it half lengthwise. They wrapped the cut slug around their cut finger and it helped preserve and start healing the wounds until they got to a hospital.
