If works are a requirement for salvation, then where can I find the list or scripture explaining the terms to recieve it? How does someone who believes works are required, know what the requirements are? Does wearing a cross necklace count as work, but if I take it off and die, oops, I lost my salvation...? I agree with you Brother, once truely saved, always saved, not by works and there are plenty of verses that explain that.

People need to be very careful thinking they cannot lose their salvation. You can lose your salvation. All the early church fathers taught this. Those who literally were students of John the apostle such as Saint Ignatius of Antioch and Polycarp.

For those who say we can lose our salvation if we have faith and believe but then turn from that faith or walk away, can you help me understand how that is possible? Give me an example of how it looks for someone that walks away. Why would they walk away? It's like saying I believe the sun is the source for warmth but then turn from my belief and change my mind somehow saying nevermind I no longer believe the sun to be the source of warmth. what would make you turn from that belief after experiencing its warmth everyday feeling it's warmth, feeling cold in the dark shadowy places then experience the the cold change into warmth when you step into the sun's light? You heard of it, saw it, experienced it, declared it to be true to then say nah I don't believe this anymore. How can "genuine" faith allow you to walk away? like if it was "genuine" what changed causing you to walk away? Why would you want to walk away? why would you even consider walking away?

I think if his question is “if someone who shows good fruit and claims to be a follower and falls away, do they keep their salvation?” It is unfair intellectually to say “well no one knows anyone heart so no one knows who’s truly being saved.” Jesus tells us we can see someone’s heart by their fruit, so it’s not a jump to say “I saw good fruit from this person and heard their claim to faith Christ” and think they are genuine. Please show me this fake christian that shows good fruit but falls away please.

In one breath you say “if you trusted you’d jump” but in the next you say “Paul directs them to look at their heart, not to jumping to be caught.” In a paradigm that holds you can’t tell the real from the fake (bc they can look exactly the same) how can you try to offer assurance to those unable to tell if their OWN trust is real or fake? If the fake are deceived into thinking their trust is real how do you know yours isn’t? What good does “test yourselves” or “examine your life” do? If the fake can fall into your arms and be caught too, what good does falling to be caught do? All you can do is hope it’s God and not you pretending, which is just code for “hope your trust is enduring and you don’t fall away”….in which case you sound like those you critique of not being assured.

If you can't know if someone else is truly saved or not then how do you know you married a beliver? were you just taking a gamble knowing it might have been an unbiblical union?
