There’s no way the deficit can take that, we shouldn’t be passing a government funding at this point. The oil prices make no sense. I’ve seen oil at $120 a barrel and the gas wasn’t like this. It’s a refinery issue and selling to other countries. The supply issue is gas not oil. The refinery is operating at the same rate in my town, so the fuel is leaving the country. He could put an emergency stop on export sales then it might come down but that would make a lot of campaign funds drop when he makes those people angry, or they could reduce production to keep their prices up. They could also ask the governors to drop the tax and subsidize it with government funds. It has been done before.
