@samieremusic: WE JUST WANNA LIVE. WE JUST WANNA BE FREE. This song was written in a moment when so many of us were asking what we could do to create change. Years later, I still believe our voices matter in our art, in our communities, and in how we show up for one another. These flags were created by 7th and 8th graders, each one representing a piece of where we come from. A reminder that behind every flag is a story, a family, a history, and a culture worth celebrating. Our stories matter. We matter. To my brother @adamhochstatter, thank you for producing this record, but even more, thank you for listening. You didn’t have to fully understand my experience to sit with me in it. You gave me the space to express the anger, hurt, fear, and exhaustion I was carrying, and you helped turn those feelings into something people could hear and feel. That kind of empathy has always meant more to me than you probably know. What a privilege it is to live among so many different cultures, backgrounds, and traditions. Our differences don’t have to divide us Be proud of who you are. Be curious about who others are. There’s room for all of our stories.
