@brynn_ann: How to Store Homemade Sourdough Bread There are tons of options and what works best for you can depend on your environment + how quickly you eat your bread. 📌 WHAT WORKS FOR ME: First 12 Hours: I usually leave my loaf uncovered at room temp. Next few days: I store it in a bread bag. This gives the bread some airflow + protects it. 🥖 I really like the @Dough Dissolve linen bread bag, it’s great quality and comes in some fun colors. They’re also a small business and I love that! ❄️ For longer storage: If I have any leftover, I’ll slice it and freeze it. 📌 IMPORTANT: ✨ Always let your bread cool COMPLETELY before storing it. Trapping heat/moisture can create a humid environment that makes bread mold faster. ✨ Hot + humid environments can make your bread mold faster (you might need to freeze it sooner). ✨ If your bread is very dense/gummy and molds fast…those are signs you’re under fermenting your dough during bulk fermentation. #sourdough #sourdoughbread #sourdoughbaking #homemadebread #sourdoughtips

hi! kinda unrelated but i had a question about my bread (it’s my second time baking sourdough). it came out dense and gummy. i thought i did everything right; my starter tripled within 6hrs (1:1:1 and i got an established starter from somebody) used 100g of starter, 350 of water, 500 bread flour, and 10g of salt. let it rest for an hour, did 4 sets of stretch and folds in 30min intervals, took the temp of the dough (75°) so i let it bf for 4 hrs after the stretch and folds bc to my understanding bf includes the time since you first mixed your dough (so 7hrs total for 75° dough) and kept it in a warm place. when i took my dough out to shape it, it passed the poke test and cleanly came off of my bowl. let it chill on my countertop for abt 30mins and then 30mins in the fridge (all while i heated up my oven & dutch oven at 450°), and put two ice cubes in for steam. baked it covered for 30mins, uncovered for 15, and my bread was at 210° when i took it out. i let it chill on a wire rack for 3hrs afterwards, but it still came out like this (dense and gummy). was letting it chill on the countertop after shaping the wrong move? did i underferment my dough (bc it looks underfermented to me), or is my starter just weak??? i’m having a hard time understanding where i went wrong. thank you ahead of time if you reply.

I leave mine on the counter for maybe a day or two then I wrap it with aluminum foil and put it in the fridge.

Can you address sourdough clean up??? Do you use the Dough Dissolve solution? Does it work??? I realize it’s best clean as you go….but holy cow….lots of dishes!!!

I tend to do 3 days on counter and then 3 to 4 days in fridge. Then sliced to freezer. Seems to work for me.
