Replying to @Tammy 🇭🇹 First, I just want to say THANK YOU for all of the kind words, encouragement, love, and support. 🥹🤎 Over 3 MILLION views is absolutely INSANE to me. I am genuinely overwhelmed in the best way, and so grateful that something as personal as my hair journey has resonated with and touched so many of you. I truly never expected this. 🫶🏾 29 years. That’s how long I had loc’d hair. Until February 2026, I had NEVER experienced myself with loose, natural hair. Not as a child, not as a teenager, not as an adult. Locs were all I had ever known. Was having locs a decision I was upset about? No. Was that decision originally made for me? Yes. But one thing about my mom—she has always been BIG on teaching me to love myself exactly as I am, especially in my natural form. Looking back, I realize that growing up with locs was one of my earliest lessons in doing exactly that. Growing up with locs during a time when natural Black hair wasn’t nearly as expected, celebrated, or accepted as it is today—especially locs—wasn’t always easy. A lot of times, I was the only one in the room. The only girl in my class. The only person who looked like me or wore her hair like mine. But I also believe that empowered me in ways I didn’t fully understand at the time. I learned early that I didn’t have to look like everyone else to feel beautiful. I learned how to exist confidently in spaces where I stood out. I learned that being different didn’t mean something about me needed to change. And now, at 30, I’m learning myself all over again. For the first time in my life, I’m learning my loose hair—its textures, what it likes, what it doesn’t like, how to care for it, and most importantly, how to love it without measuring that love by length. I’m realizing more and more that this was never just a hair journey. It’s become a health journey, an identity journey, and a journey of self-reflection. I will always be grateful for my locs. I’m grateful for the little girl who grew up wearing them, the woman they helped shape, and the mother who taught me that my natural self was always worthy of being loved. My loc journey was beautiful. It was 30 years of my story. And now, I get to meet another version of me. 🤎✨ #loccombout #naturalhair #naturalhairjourney #locjourney
