I use to sell cars and I'll never forget the day a gentleman pulled up in a beater, looked like he just left the worksite. I did my usual thing what are you looking for, whats the budget etc. My coworkers said it was a waste of time when I took his ID to scan. I ended up selling him a 8 brand new trucks for his construction company as they were expanding into a new city. My coworkers were pissed! The month following, his buddy came in, only wanting to work with me (owned a hot shot trucking company) bought 4 duallys. It was awesome because I was the only woman working in the entire dealership.

My brother in law had that happen. Walked into a ford dealership in a dirty shirt and cutoffs because he just finished a job. Sales person said, “let me show you what you can afford” taking him to the used lot. He left, went to another dealership, bought an expedition. Drove it to the first dealership, pulled in, honked and told the sales person, let me show you what I can afford…. And drove off. True story

I went by myself to a Lexus dealership asking to see a Gx 460 luxury. Salesman said let me take you to a vehicle that you can afford nx 300. I started laughing and left. Went to Cadillac paid cash for new Escalade PL. Went back to Lexus in my Escalade and showed the guy what I could afford.

My dad was a car salesman for 40+ years. A man showed up on the lot one day, didn’t look like he had a dime to his name.. no one would go outside expect for my dad. That man bought 2 brand new cars with cash for him and his wife. He would continue to buy from my dad for years after that.

I agree…. My first sale and $3200 commission voucher for one sale came from being that rookie back in 2001 that approached a raggedy looking couple when everyone else walked by them… they turned out to be the stage Manager and his wife for a band called “Matchbox 20” (if you’re GenX you know) and paid cash for two Yukon Denalis for the band 🤘🏻

Or if a single woman comes in to look at a car, dont ask her when her husband is going to be there to make the decision. This happened to me, and I looked at him started crying and said my husband died 6 months before hand. He tried to apologize, but i ignored him and walked away. Went to the Chevy dealership down the road and was treated so well, and left with a Tahoe😁

My dad and I walked into the dealership in lounge wear and spent $120k on two brand new cars, I’ve never understood why I gotta dress “rich” to have money. Like I wear comfortable normal ass clothes, doesn’t change my bank account

I used to serve tables, other servers would write people off because of how they dressed, race, age, the list goes on… I would happily take those tables. Treat everyone with respect. A lot of those times, they tipped well, complimented me for good service, and I gained a new regular.

Yes, this has happened to me. I knew exactly what I wanted to buy. Looked up what was in stock. The sales person seem to be unenthusiastic and couldn’t be bothered. I left and when to another Landrover dealer and walked out with what I came there for. Over the next month 4 of my friends went and bought LandRovers (2Range Rivers, 1Defender and a Discovery). Interesting because if you go to buy a house from a realtor, the first thing they do is send you to the bank. They will not show you any homes unless you can prove that you have funding.

I was 32 years old and i called the Volvo semi dealership and the lady asked me if ever baught a new semi and i said no, she laughed and said i had no truck credit and couldn't afford a new truck. I went to peterbilt the next day baught a new semi 146k and since then I've baught 16 new semis and 85 new pickup trucks. Literally cost her 3.2 mil in sales. Just got this one last week for 240k

I gotta tell you my story! I I was out and about looking at cars in San Jose. I wasn’t really aiming to buy, and I was not dressed very well. I had jeans and T-shirt on. I went into this dealership looking at different cars they had a Jaguar I was really interested in. The sales team just stood in their office, staring at me never approached. Since they didn’t help me, I went down the street and bought a Jaguar XJL from another dealer I drove that fucking car back to the original place, I got out and I waved at them and I said you lost! They just stood there in disbelief. 😂😂 You should never judge a book by its cover! Here’s my baby!

Also, don’t treat a woman like she doesn’t know anything and only talk to the man. We have walked out of dealerships because I was invisible to the salesperson and treated as if my husband was the only person worth talking to.

I was buying a car with my son and the salesman was a cocky jerk the entire time. We were still walking around with him when one of his co-workers spotted me and said “hey, aren’t you my grandmas doctor?” That fool changed his whole demeanor so quick. Sorry sir, too late; that just made me even more mad cause you obviously know how to act right and chose to treat us poorly

Here is the twist to this kind of story- yes I have what would be considered a significant bank account, I am a woman shopping with a husband, and we are dressed and look pretty unremarkable.
