@washingtonpost: For a generation, the tradition of a last-minute goodbye to a loved one at an airport gate or a quick hang during a layover wasn’t an option. Gate access was restricted after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. But now, under a new program, that tradition could be revived. The Transportation Security Administration said it was offering gate access to people without plane tickets as an “exclusive benefit” to PreCheck members and people with Known Traveler Numbers. Yeah when at the ticket check in you can ask for a pass to go in to the gate to say goodbye, you still go through everything you would for a normal ticket tsa wise, it’s been that way for a while. Did people really not know???
