One of the greatest thing anyone’s ever done is sent us a Costco order. We now do it for everyone we know who has a baby—you can send snacks, easy snack packs, rotisserie chicken, etc. it was sooo helpful!!

The two things I appreciated the most PP was 1) my mom meal prepping a bunch of things to stick out freezer and 2) my MIL paid for a house keeper to come biweekly for a few cleanings! It was such a relief to not worry about scrubbing showers and toilets with a baby strapped to me

SO TRUE. I was in the trenches and on top of it suddenly was having family issues so none of my family even came to meet our daughter. It was just family drama bs. But I got to the point that I told my husband that I needed his mom or somebody to show up. He said she didn’t want to overstep, but I kept telling him that I needed people to show up. No one was showing up for me so much so that I was carrying out conversations with ChatGPT when he was at work. I needed people to insert themselves. PSA: don’t just say “let me know if you need anything”, NO. Show up.

We have a VERY active border collie and I’m so nervous he’ll feel left out when our baby is here. My brother and sister in law have said many times they’ll come over and take him outside to play for us and it’s one of the things I’m so excited for

The point about pets is so good! I’m pregnant with my first but I have 3 dogs and 1 cat and I’m so worried about how they’re going to handle their attention being changed and their routine being cramped 😭

All of this AND respect boundaries. If they’re not ready for visitors, drop off dinner without the expectation of “quickly seeing the baby.” If they ask you not to kiss the baby, don’t kiss the baby. The most stressful part of postpartum for me has been dealing with family that can’t respect boundaries.
